Hey there, welcome to my blog!
My name is Caitlyn Du Buisson Perrine, I am 20 years old and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Communication and Media, majoring in Visual Communication Design. This course will hopefully lead me to achieve a full-time job in graphic design which is a huge passion of mine.
To understand who I am as a person on a deeper level, I will tell you a story and this can hopefully influence you in a positive way.
I am a casual employee at Skechers (a shoe store) and I was working one weekend. An elderly man came into the store looking for a pair of shoes for his wife. He had a list of things that the shoes required as he is looking for a comfortable and supportive shoe suitable for his wife that has dementia who had recently fell over in the shower. As I was showing this man a couple options, he started hysterically crying and stated that “It should be me not her”. Although I was obligated by my manager to keep the time with customers quick and efficient, I felt the need to sit this man down and mentally support him by simply just listening.
I learnt a lot from this moment, although I wouldn’t necessarily call it a skill, I would say it is something that has many benefits in everyday life, your workplace and can brighten the day of people around you. This really put life into perspective for me and is something I will never forget.
As cringe as it may sound: Life is simply too short, be kind and spread positivity.
