The New Economy – This is why eBay is so successful

Hey there, welcome back to my blog! Today’s topic is so interesting to me as it is something I am super familiar with and I’m sure you are too.

Within this new economy there are always continuous changes that are occurring and in order to be successful it needs to continuously deal with the adversity of its external environment. One of the most successful businesses on the internet is eBay. Mark Deuze (2006) cleverly explains that “The product this company delivers is connectivity, bringing people together to trade, communicate, interact and exchange knowledge, information, goods and services”.

What is great about this business, is that it has spread globally and can be suited for anyone as you search for the products you are looking for and can sell anything through it. The reasons for its success it’s because this emergent network society has decentralized operations, global information flows and the value in connecting to and sorting information.

  1. Hey Caitlyn, I found your blog post this week so great as you explained by using eBay as your example to explore the global information flows and how you incorporated the continuous changes globally. In my post, I followed the lines of exploring my DA to go global and I used this website https://www.ukessays.com/essays/sociology/manuel-castells-theory-of-network-society.php?vref=1 to add futher detail!
But great job, it really helped me understand the topic a lot more! xx
